Hall of Monuments - Rearrange?
Ok. Anyone who has a large number of titles, minis, etc., will have seen the rearrange button in the Hall of Monuments. Frankly, its the only part of the HoM that I think sucks. Take my miniatures, for example. I have 13 of them. But I want to display my Asura, Longhair Yeti, Moa, Kuunavang and Varesh. However, no matter how I try to rearrange them, I can't get them all in, and it goes without saying that I can't have those 5 in the middle, in the center of attention. I would ask that Anet make it so that we can rearrange them by mouse, with maybe a storage like thing to switch them in and out, and then drag our favorites into the center. The same goes for every other shrine.
So, is this just something I've found annoying? What does the rest of the community think?

Yup. After choosing the 'Rearrange option' intead of randomly arranging tem, a new dialog should appear, with as many option as slots the monument has.
For example, for titles, 5 options:
- Slot 1.
- Slot 2.
- Slot 3.
- Slot 4.
- Slot 5.
Then you choose the slot, and a new dialog shows all possible options. Much like the hat maker huge list. You choose then the item you want to show in the that slot.
If you choose an item that is already in other slot, that slot either becomes empty or a random item from the unused items list fills the gap.

Definitely /signed, I want to arrange my monuments my way. I'd also like the option of removing stuff if I don't want it. I added Animal Companion by mistake when I meant to add Black Moa, and apparently there's no option to get rid of the massive, ugly, space-consuming, unrelated statue taking up space in front of my favorite monk hero.
I've managed to luck out on the rearrange and get it shoved to the side a bit, but it's still there, dragging the eye away.

I always thought the HoM would have a list with check marks like how we display the title on our character. ANYthing that lets me decide what to disaply would make me insanely joyous.

It would be nice to be able to drag and drop instead of a more-or-less random placement. But I think ANet will come with a way.

It's too random, and doesn't cover all options.

Lets do some basic math here:
With 4 items to arrange there are 4*3*2*1 = 24 possible ways to arrange them (my current situation with the title monument). Add a 5th item and we get 5*4*3*2*1 = 120 ways to arrange them.
Basically the number of ways to arrange x items into x slots is x!. So assuming that each one is equally likely you have a 1/(x!) chance of getting the arrangement you want. But its not a simple matter of just clicking it at most x times for two reasons:
- You may miss the option you want until after you clicked rearrange on it.
- Random chance may make an option appear a few times in the x goes, thus blocking the one you want.
/signed. Something needs to be done. Personally MithranArkanere's idea would work if you know how you want it to look, but you may not always know. Another option may be the option to lock specific locations so that when you hit rearrange those items don't move, but the rest do. Though I'd prefer MithranArkanere's idea to this.

Meemo, it's not random assortment. It cycles through in the order they're listed. o.O

I'm pretty sure that it was random when rearranging my Honor monument, I'll recheck later tonight.
And if it isn't random, that just makes it even worse.

Agreed. Not long after the Hall was revealed, I made a similar suggestion to Mithran's - with the addition of the option for the player to be able to fill out slots beyond 5 which can be rotated in so a player can display all their monuments in turn with something like the current functionality without having to do it manually every time.
But the option to rearrange manually rather than simply rotating should definitely be there.

It's not random, it cycles in the order you registered them.

Unless you re-arrange them between adding new ones. When you add a new monument, it always goes in the centre spot.

/signed, this would make displaying what we would like so much easier. Even if we have to choose by hand what goes in slot 1, slot 2, whatever, that's better than the hit-and-miss that we have now.

This is something i have been thinking too, but not for the mini-pets, but for the Heroes display too.
I really want to have certain heroes showing, but cant do to the display. If you could choose the 5, as above, that would be ace.
It would be a great improvement to HoM and one i can see coming (i hope).
Peace,
Ferret

They are not random, they look random. They are sorted based upon an internal list. For example, Lightbringer ans Sunspear will be usually together. The same for Legendary titles. Olias and Zenmai may be toguether, the same for Gorem and Norgu, and Jin and Sousuke. Of course, they may be found separated, but the 'times' they appear together are more than the times they appear separately.
As the system currently is, you have to add only the things you want to show if you want to keep them shown. And forget about the others.

I was really excited about arranging my titles when I got legendary skillhunter, and now the only titles that show up while legendary is on display are either the other skillhunters (which why would I want to display them when legendary is up), or the titles which I feel were the easiest and not worth showing. I'd really like to arrange it my way.

Quoted for Truth
I mean, you could even have lists like in the party bar when you add heroes. Its exactly the same thing, really.
